The Truax Manufacturing Company of Denver marketed this as their "Leadville" style ore car in their catalogs and advertisements. This style was advertised as maximizing the space used for hauling heavier ores such as lead or iron in mine cages. The Maid of Erin Mine near Leadville, Colorado, was the first user of this type of car in the 1890s, and it would see widespread usage across the United States, Mexico and Canada. These cars were very popular in the Cripple Creek mining district, and this particular model is based off a car from the Mollie Kathleen Gold Mine. This is a static model meant for 18" gauge track, and prints in one piece.
