Ford Rail Truck – HOn30

Built in the Pacific Coast Railway’s shops in San Luis Obispo from a 1918 Ford touring car. Model based on drawings by Curtis Johnson in the book The Pacific Coast Railway; Central California’s Premier Narrow Gauge. Model consists of 3D-printed resin body scaled up to HO from the original N-scale version at the request of a customer. The Nn3 version was designed to fit a four-wheel 6.5mm gauge power truck from Showcase Miniatures with one axle removed. Modeler will need to provide 9mm gauge power truck, such as those available from http://narrow-japan.net/ , front wheels, front non-conductive axle, screws, brass wire, clear windshield glazing and fabricate mount and front bumper from sheet brass. It is recommended a lead or other metal weight be added to the top of the power truck. See instructions. Prototype was painted boxcar red. Rear curtain should be painted a canvas color.
